중동 방역 모범국 UAE, 코로나19 재확산세에 '비상'

하루 확진 넉달만에 최다…"결혼식, 장례식, 모임서 집단 감염"

(서울=연합뉴스) 강훈상 기자 = 대규모 검사로 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19) 확진자수를 줄여 중동 지역에서 '방역 모범국'으로 평가받는 아랍에미리트(UAE)에서 재확산세가 뚜렷해지는 흐름이다.

UAE 보건방역부는 10일(현지시간) 기준 코로나19 확진자가 전날보다 930명 늘어 7만6천911명이 됐다고 집계했다.

이날 일일 신규 확진자는 5월 22일 이후 가장 많다. 1월 29일 첫 발병자가 확인된 이후 하루에 900명 이상의 확진자가 나온 날은 이날까지 사흘뿐이다.

이날 하루로만 보면 걸프 지역 6개국 가운데 UAE가 신규 확진자수가 가장 많다. 10일 일일 확진율(양성률)도 1.13%를 기록해 7월 11일 이후 가장 높았다.

지난 2주새 나온 확진자가 8천400명으로 누적 확진자의 11%에 달할 만큼 코로나19 환자가 급증했다.

UAE의 일일 신규 확진자수는 5월 중하순 1차 정점을 찍은 뒤 지난달 초순 100명대까지 떨어졌다가 이후 한 달여간 상승 곡선을 그리는 추세다.

코로나19가 재확산하는 조짐을 보이자 UAE 정부는 10일 방역 수칙을 엄격히 지켜달라면서 방역 수칙 위반 행위를 더 엄격히 단속하겠다는 내용으로 긴급 대국민 담화를 발표했다.

담화를 발표한 UAE 정부 보건담당 대변인 파리다 호사니 박사는 "감염자가 증가하면서 모두의 협력과 책임감을 새롭게 다져야 할 때다"라며 "우리가 이룬 성과를 되찾아 와야 한다"라고 강조했다.

보건방역부에 따르면 이들 2주간 확진자 가운데 88%가 지역 감염으로 결혼식, 장례식, 친교 모임, 쇼핑몰, 학원에서 거리두기, 마스크 쓰기 지침을 지키지 않아 집단 발병한 사례가 빈번했다.

UAE 두바이에서는 한 할인판매점이 9일 진행한 '깜짝 세일' 행사에 사람이 한꺼번에 몰려든 사실이 적발돼 5만 디르함(약 1천620만원)의 과태료와 영업 정지 처분을 받았다.

또 지난 2주간 감염자의 10%가 지난달 30일 재개된 등교 개학과 관련한 교직원, 학부모, 학생이었다.

10일 기준 UAE의 누적 사망자는 398명이고 완치율은 89%다.
