인스타그램서 옷 샀는데 연락 두절…SNS쇼핑몰 피해 급증

(서울=연합뉴스) 홍유담 기자 = 최근 SNS 기반 쇼핑몰에서 옷을 구매한 후 사업자의 폐업이나 연락 두절로 상품을 배송받지 못하는 피해가 늘고 있다.

SNS 기반 쇼핑몰은 카카오스토리, 네이버 블로그, 인스타그램 등 SNS를 통해 상품 거래와 홍보가 이루어지는 쇼핑몰이다.

11일 한국소비자원에 따르면 올해 1~6월 SNS 기반 쇼핑몰에서 구매한 의류와 관련된 피해구제 신청은 총 657건으로, 전년 동기대비 38.9% 증가했다.

피해 유형별로는 '상품 미배송'이 48.4%로 가장 많았고, '청약 철회 거부'와 '광고와 다른 제품 배송'이 각각 19.5%, 14.9%로 뒤를 이었다. 제품 하자도 14.3%를 차지했다.

상품 미배송의 대다수(68.2%)는 판매자의 폐업이나 사이트 폐쇄, 일방적인 연락 두절로 인한 경우였다.

거래 금액별로는 '5만원 미만'의 소액 피해가 41.4%였고, 금액이 높아질수록 비중이 줄었다.

피해자들의 평균 의류 구매 금액은 13만8천28원이었으나, 460만8천원을 결제한 사례도 있었다.

결제 방법이 확인된 419건 중 계좌이체를 활용한 경우가 43.9%로 가장 많았고, 신용카드 일시불과 할부는 각각 38.9%, 9.1%였다.

소비자원 관계자는 "신용카드로 결제하면 사업자와 계약을 맺은 결제대행업체 등을 통해 피해 구제를 받을 가능성이 상대적으로 크다"면서도 "계좌이체의 경우 판매자가 잠적하면 실질적인 구제 방법이 없어 주의해야 한다"고 말했다.

이런 피해 사례가 늘어난 것은 SNS 기반 전자 상거래가 활성화되면서 유통·재정 기반이 취약한 개인 사업자의 시장 진출이 많아진 반면, 에스크로 제도 등 안전 거래 방식은 제대로 정착되지 않았기 때문이라고 소비자원은 분석했다.

에스크로 제도는 은행 등 별도의 에스크로 사업자가 소비자의 결제 대금을 예치하고 있다가 상품배송이 완료된 후 해당 대금을 통신판매업자에게 지급하는 거래 안전장치다.

소비자원은 피해 예방을 위해 사업자의 신뢰성을 확인하고, 결제 시 에스크로 계좌와 신용카드, 결제대행사 등을 통한 안전거래 방식을 이용해야 한다고 조언했다.
