'폭발참사 불과 한달 됐는데'…레바논 베이루트 항구서 큰불(종합)

(서울·카이로=연합뉴스) 김유아 기자 노재현 특파원 = 지난달 대폭발로 수천 명의 사상자가 발생한 레바논 베이루트 항구에서 10일(현지시간) 대형 화재가 발생했다.

AFP, 로이터통신 등에 따르면 이날 오전 베이루트 항구에 있는 창고에서 큰불이 나면서 시꺼먼 연기 기둥이 하늘을 뒤덮었으며, 당국은 헬기를 투입해 화재 진화 작업을 벌였다.

화재로 인한 사상자는 보고되지 않았다.

레바논 적신월사(적십자) 측은 "사상자는 없지만 일부 사람들이 호흡에 어려움을 겪고 있다"고 전했다.

트위터 등 소셜미디어에 올라온 동영상을 보면 현장 주변에 있던 사람들은 큰불에 놀라 황급히 대피했다.

정확한 화재 원인은 아직 알려지지 않았다.

레바논 언론 데일리스타는 한 소식통을 인용해 항구 면세구역의 창고에서 화재가 났고 창고에는 기름과 타이어들이 보관돼 있었다고 전했다.

베이루트 항만 국장 바셈 알카이시는 식물 기름을 수입하는 한 회사의 창고에서 불이 시작한 뒤 타이어들로 옮겨붙었다고 설명했다.

또 레바논 임시 교통장관인 미셸 나자르는 "불길이 잡혔다"며 "화재가 진압된 뒤 조사가 진행될 것"이라고 말했다고 현지 방송 MTV가 보도했다.

나자르 장관은 "초기 정보를 보면 한 근로자가 기계톱을 이용해 보수 작업을 하던 중 불꽃이 튀어 화재가 발생했다"고 설명했다.

레바논 국민은 폭발 참사가 발생한 지 한달여 만에 대형 화재가 발생하자 충격과 불안에 휩싸였다.

베이루트의 한 53세 시민은 로이터통신에 "확실히 우리는 무섭다. 베이루트를 파괴한 폭발이 있은 지 불과 한 달이 지났다"며 "우리는 같은 일이 다시 벌어지는 것을 지켜봤다"고 말했다.

한 남성은 불이 난 뒤 가족을 피신시켰다며 "아들은 아직도 지난달 대폭발로 인한 정신적 충격에서 헤어나오지 못한 상태"라고 전했다.

지난달 4일 이 항구에서는 인화성 물질인 질산암모늄 약 2천750t 폭발해 약 190명이 숨지고 6천여명이 다치는 대참사가 있었다.

참사 엿새 뒤인 지난달 10일 하산 디아브 총리가 이끌던 레바논 내각은 폭발 참사에 대한 책임으로 총사퇴를 발표했고 31일 무스타파 아디브 독일 주재 대사가 새 총리로 지명됐다.
