추미애, 사퇴 압박속 임은정 인사발령 낸 속내는

위기에 법무장관 존재감 과시…검찰개혁 지속 의지 해석도

(서울=연합뉴스) 박재현 기자 = 연일 제기되는 아들 관련 의혹으로 수세에 몰린 상황에서도 추미애 법무부 장관은 인사를 통해 존재감을 과시했다.

법무부는 10일 임은정(46·사법연수원 30기) 울산지검 부장검사를 오는 14일 자로 대검 검찰연구관으로 발령냈다고 밝혔다.

정기 인사 시즌이 끝난 후 '원포인트'로 단행된 이번 인사에서 추 장관은 임 부장검사의 보직을 '감찰정책연구 담당관'으로 지정했다.

검찰연구관은 검찰총장을 보좌하는 역할을 하는 만큼 보직 역시 총장이 인사 배치 후 결정하는 것이 통상적이지만, 임 부장검사는 이례적으로 보직이 지정된 상태로 대검에 합류하게 됐다.

법무부는 임 부장검사의 인사와 관련해 윤석열 검찰총장 및 대검과 별도 협의를 거치지 않은 것으로 알려졌다. 대검 측은 임 부장의 인사가 공표되기 직전인 이날 오전에서야 구체적인 보직과 인사 내용을 받아본 것으로 전해졌다.

법조계에서는 추미애 장관이 인사를 통해 '검찰개혁'의 의지를 재차 강조하며 존재감을 드러낸 것이라는 분석이 나온다.

추 장관은 평소 SNS 등을 통해 부동산 문제 등 현안에 대한 의견 표명을 자주 해왔지만, 아들의 군 생활 관련 의혹이 불거진 이후로는 말을 아껴왔다.

군 휴가 미복귀 문제에서 시작된 추 장관 아들 서모씨의 의혹은 부대 배치와 통역병 선발 관련 청탁이 있었다는 군 관계자의 증언이 나오면서 빠르게 확대되고 있다. 정치권에서는 검찰 수사 결과와 상관없이 추 장관이 정치적·도덕적 책임을 지고 장관직에서 사퇴 해야 한다는 주장도 나오고 있다.

추 장관은 지난 7일 법무부를 통해 "그동안 (아들 관련) 사건과 관련해 일체의 보고를 받지 않았으며, 앞으로도 보고받지 않을 것"이라는 입장을 냈다.

동시에 법무부 수사권 개혁 시행 준비 TF 구성을 알리며 "국민을 위한 검찰 개혁 완수를 위해 흔들림 없이 매진할 것"이라고 강조했다.

평소 검찰에 비판적인 목소리를 내왔던 임 부장을 대검 감찰부에 보낸 것 역시 외부의 사퇴 압박에 물러서지 않고 검찰 개혁 작업에 속도를 내겠다는 추 장관의 의지가 담긴 것으로 보인다.

서초동의 한 변호사는 "'인사가 만사'라던 추 장관이 위기 상황에서 또 한 번 인사로 영향력을 발휘하려는 것으로 보인다"며 "대검 내 '윤석열 견제 세력'을 늘리면서 검찰 개혁 계속해 나가겠다는 의도"라고 분석했다.
