방탄소년단 "'다이너마이트'는 슬픔 위로할 정공법이었죠"

KBS 뉴스9 출연해 빌보드 1위 소감…"우리가 전해온 진심이 쌓여 폭발한 결과"

방탄소년단, 빌보드 싱글차트 2주 연속 1위

(서울=연합뉴스) 그룹 방탄소년단(BTS)이 미국 빌보드 메인 싱글 차트인 '핫 100' 정상을 2주 연속 지키며 또 하나의 대기록을 썼다.
빌보드는 8일(현지시간) 방탄소년단의 '다이너마이트'(Dynamite)가 지난주에 이어 이번 주에도 핫 100에서 1위를 차지했다고 밝혔다.

(서울=연합뉴스) 김효정 기자 = 그룹 방탄소년단(BTS)은 10일 빌보드 메인 싱글차트 정상에 오른 '다이너마이트'에 대해 슬픔을 유쾌하고 희망차게 위로하려는 '정공법'을 택한 곡이었다고 설명했다.

방탄소년단 멤버들은 이날 KBS '뉴스9'에 출연해 빌보드 메인 싱글차트 '핫 100' 1위를 2주 연속 기록한 소감과 인기 및 팀워크의 비결 등을 공개하며 이같이 밝혔다.

리더 RM은 '다이너마이트'를 펑키한 디스코곡으로 구성한 이유에 대해 "우울하거나 슬플 때 위로하거나 타파하는 여러 가지 방법이 있는데 우리는 정공법을 택했다"면서 "유쾌하고 희망적인 방법도 필요하다고 느꼈다"고 말했다.

아시아권 가수로서 세계 대중음악의 중심부에 진입한 비결에 대해선 "사실 정말로 그렇게 됐는지는 잘 모르겠다"며 겸손해 했다.

RM은 "2015년부터 빌보드 메인차트에 들어가기 시작했는데 그때부터 우리가 계속 두드려온 지점들이 있었다"며 "언어나 국적, 인종을 넘어 우리가 계속 어필해 온 진심이 많은 분께 다가가 그분들이 팬이 되거나 호감을 갖게 되고, 이런 것들이 쌓여 폭발한 결과가 말 그대로 '다이너마이트'가 된 것 같다"고 했다.

슈가는 "처음 이 음원을 제작할 때 저희가 잘할 수 있는 것, 할 수 있는 것을 통해서 팬분들께 조금이나마 힘을 드리고 싶은 맘이 가장 컸다"고 강조했다.

제이홉은 멤버들이 각자 고향을 노래하는 곡 '마 시티'에서 5·18 광주민주화운동을 언급한 것과 관련해 "하고 싶은 얘기를 음악에 담을 수 있다는 건 아티스트로서 굉장히 영광스러운 부분"이라고 답했다. 그러면서 "잊어서는 안 될 역사라고 생각했기 때문에 음악으로 풀어보면 어떨까 생각을 했다"고 덧붙였다.

팀워크를 잘 유지하는 비결에 관해선 '적절한 거리와 상호 존중'을 거론했다.

리더 RM은 "같은 나룻배에서 다른 방향을 보면서 간다"는 비유를 들며 "때로는 가족처럼, 때로는 서로 파트너처럼 적절한 거리를 유지하며 상호 신뢰와 존중을 해가는 게 우리 팀워크의 비결"이라고 답했다.

맏형 진은 "수익이 나지 않을 때는 식대에 한계가 있었다"고 초창기를 회상하며 "지금은 먹고 싶은 것 원하는 대로, 스테이크 두 조각 먹고 싶으면 두 조각도 먹고 지내고 있다"며 웃었다.

정국은 "단 한 가지 바뀌지 않은 게 있다면 팬들을 생각하는 마음과 음악을 대하는 우리의 태도, 진심"이라고 강조했다.

뷔는 팬클럽 '아미'와의 끈끈함이 어디서 나오느냐는 질문에 "어려운 순간부터 함께해 준 사람들이기 때문이다. 우리의 슬픈 것과 기쁜 것, 모든 것들을 아미와 나눴고 그래서 우리를 가장 잘 알고 있는 사람은 아미"라고 답했다.

현재 작업 중인 새 앨범과 향후 목표에 관해서도 설명했다.

정국은 "멤버들의 참여도가 굉장히 높다"고 했고, 지민은 "'다이너마이트'만큼, 혹은 그보다 더 좋은 곡들이 많이 있다. 우리가 느끼는 슬픔이면 슬픔, 즐거움이면 즐거움 그대로를 담았다"고 귀띔했다.

슈가는 그래미상 후보가 돼서 단독공연을 할 수 있었으면 좋겠다며 "감히 이런 말씀을 드려도 되는지 모르겠지만 수상까지 할 수 있으면 하는 바람"이라고 말했다. 그는 과거에 언급했던 목표가 모두 이뤄져 팬들 사이에서 화제가 된 바 있다.

이 밖에 멤버들은 '코로나19 시대를 함께 살아가야 하는 전 세계 젊은이들에게 방탄소년단만의 챌린지를 해주실 수 있느냐'는 정은경 중앙방역대책본부장의 메시지를 전해받고 '꿈 챌린지'를 언급했다.

뷔는 "만약에 코로나19가 끝나면 첫 번째로 무엇을 제일 먼저 하고 싶은지를 글로 쓰거나 그림을 그리던가 하며 표현해보면 어떨까요"라고 제안했다.

RM은 "밤이면 그림자가 길어도 언젠가는 해가 뜬다고 믿고 있다"며 "많은 분들이 이 시기에 힘들겠지만, 우리도 할 수 있는 최선을 다하고 있을 테니 힘내시고 건강하셨으면 좋겠다"는 응원을 전했다.

한편 방탄소년단은 이날 미국 NBC 투데이 '시티 뮤직 시리즈'에 출연해 '다이너마이트' 무대를 선보였다.
