경주서 장로부부 대규모 수련회…코로나 우려 vs 방역수칙 준수

(경주=연합뉴스) 손대성 기자 = 수도권에서 개신교회를 중심으로 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19)이 확산하는 가운데 경북 경주에서 개신교 행사가 열려 논란이 일고 있다.

19일 대한예수교장로회 고신총회 전국장로회연합회와 경주시에 따르면 고신총회 전국장로회연합회는 18일부터 20일까지 경주 한 호텔에서 전국장로부부 하기 수련회를 열고 있다.

이 행사에는 전국에서 장로 부부 약 650명이 참석했다.

주최 측은 매년 여름에 이 행사를 여는데 올해는 코로나19로 참석 규모를 줄였다.

일부 네티즌은 최근 코로나19 확진자가 증가하는 시점에 이번 수련회를 연 것이 부적절하다고 지적한다.

혹시 확진 판정을 받지 않은 코로나19 감염자가 섞여 있을 경우 확산할 우려가 있다는 것이다.

그러나 사회적 거리두기 2단계가 발령된 서울·인천·부산·경기를 제외한 지역은 실내에서 대규모 행사를 하더라도 방역 수칙을 위반한 것이 아니다.

이 때문에 수련회 자체는 아무런 문제가 없는 상황이다.

주최 측은 만일의 사태에 대비해 방역 수칙을 지키고 있다고 했다.

2천100석 규모 공간에 거리를 두고 500명만 앉을 수 있도록 했다.

나머지 150명은 600석 규모 다른 공간에서 거리를 지키며 중계방송을 청취한다.

경주시는 현장에 공무원을 보내 방역수칙을 지키는지 관리하고 있다.

시 관계자는 "만일의 사태에 대비해 호텔 정문, 현관, 행사장 앞, 행사장 내부 등 모두 4중으로 방역하고 있다"며 "연례 행사를 특별한 이유 없이 못 하게 하기 어렵고, 코로나19 확진자가 집단 발생한 교회와 관련된 사람은 오지 못하도록 했다"고 설명했다.
